About Me
My name is David Fonken and I am thrilled to be part of the Riley Creek family! I hold a Bachelor’s of Arts degree in Spanish and International Development from the University of Oregon, and a Master’s of Science degree in Counselor Education from Portland State University. While I began my career as a Spanish instructor, I have been licensed and employed as a school counselor since 2013. I firmly believe in the power of a researched counseling and guidance program to measurably improve student outcomes. I take a strengths-based approach to counseling, and believe that all students are inherently predisposed to growth. At the core, my work is to help students to first understand, then develop the resiliency to overcome, personal barriers to success.
