Originally, and proudly, from Michigan's Upper Peninsula, Ms. Pepin studied at Northern Michigan University and graduated from NMU’s English secondary education program. Before graduating, she worked as a university writing center tutor for two years, then completed a semester of student teaching at Republic-Michigamme Schools, a rural institution of approximately 150 students. There, she taught middle school language arts, freshman English, and British literature to students in grades 6-12.
Currently, Ms. Pepin teaches 7th-9th grade English Language Arts and a high school Creative Writing elective at Central Curry School District 1. She is the Assistant Junior Class Adviser and a teacher liaison between the school and the ASCEND program. Since moving to Gold Beach in 2017, she has also served as a Board Member for the Curry Public Library. When she’s not at school or the library, Ms. Pepin loves to read, go for hikes and long road trips, spend time in her garden, kayak, and write poetry. Her poetry has been published in various print and online magazines and journals, including the minnesota review, BOAAT, Third Coast Magazine, 45th Parallel, Up the Staircase Quarterly, Lunch Ticket, Stirring: A Literary Collection, and elsewhere.
